Vic’s Espresso/Peerless 2009 Rider Photo and Profile Daphne McCabe DOB: June 14, 1967 Years Racing: 2 Hometown: Lafayette, LA Occupation: Life Coach, Nordic Ski Instructor When Daphne says that “matching clothes” compelled her to begin bike racing she is not kidding. What compelled everyone else to convince Daphne to put on those matching clothes was her obvious strength on a bike. Her favorite training ride is the Raymond – Ward Loop or up Flagstaff, but her favorite place to be on a bike is anywhere with her friends. Daphne can be seen grabbing her Vic’s Americano, with a 1/2 pack of raw sugar, piping hot, before many rides. A native of Louisiana, Daphne grew up in Lafayette, LA. After receiving her education at Stanford in California, she and her husband moved to Boulder where Daphne attended Business School. Daphne is an active member of the community and a mom to 2 boys. The inspirational glue to the Vic’s women’s team, Daphne is known for her wild hats and warm personality. She is the GC who behaves like a Domestique. You will see Daphne racing with the Vic’s Women’s TT team and perhaps soon at Cyclocross races. She rides, hikes, skis and keeps active nearly every day. If she wasn’t riding a bike, Daphne said she would be “rowing crew or backpacking with the family.” Daphne enjoys hanging out with the kids, cooking, drinking red wine, gardening and volunteering in the community. Daphne is a Nordic ski instructor during the winter at Eldora and prefers to “just say No" to indoor training. Keep it outside and ski,” she said. Her favorite superhero is "M, because she saves the world by telling 007 what to do.” If you knew Daphne you would be laughing right now, well, laughing while trying to keep up with her on a bike.
